5km on fivefingers… my VFF first impressions

Vibram FiveFingers

Vibram FiveFingers

I just got my Vibram FiveFingers (aka VFF) yesterday at the Vibram boutique located at the  PowerPlant mall for 5,950PHP (141USD… yes I know it’s very expensive!), on my way to the TNF Great Camp Out orientation at R.O.X. BGC.  I wanted to try it out there after the orientation,  but the weather had a different say in the matter :( .

I finally got my chance earlier this evening at the gym. I ran for 5km in 24mins on the treadmill. I’ve got mixed feelings about it but overall I think it was ok. Running felt refreshingly different. I noticed my stride changed a bit, and after running for only 5km my calf muscles were really sore (the good kind of pain). Which I think is a good thing, since I haven’t felt this in a long time and it is a sign that my calf is developing new muscle.

My only gripes are mainly the price tag: The local SRP ranges from 5,000PHP above. You can buy top tier running shoes from well known brands for the same amount if not less. Lastly the blisters on my feet. I got 3, 2 on my left foot and one on the right. Not sure why I got it, maybe because of bad form, or that my feet are still adjusting to it. I do hope I can prevent this from happening again.

If you plan on trying these pair for shoes / slippers / flip flops or what ever you want to call them, make sure to bring a pair of slippers just in case.

curious talaga ako eh. Supposedly improve raw nya stride mo at stabilizing muscles. Kung totoo, maliit na bagay lang ang 6k… kung hindi, charge it to experience nalang hahahaha!
