My last iPhone 4

One of my clients (thanks to Elvin Reyes of OneDayGraphics.com) was gracious enough to give me an iPhone 4 last week. It was originally a 16gb model locked to AT&T running the 4.0.1 firmware. I got it jailbroken and unlocked, the only catch was I can’t update the firmware… since it will render the phone useless if I did. Despite the bugs of the old firmware I was ecstatic to have an iPhone 4 for FREE!.

I originally wanted a factory unlocked unit so I can get all the latest updates from Apple and follow the developmental road map os iOS 4 (but you can’t argue with free). So I tried my luck and posted the iPhone online for trade/sale. Fortunately after a couple of hours someone patronized my ad. Long story short I was able to change the 16gb AT&T locked iPhone to a 32gb factory unlocked iPhone. I just added 4,000PHP (90USD) to get a barely 1 week old iPhone 4 from Singapore. It still had the brand new feel and smell minus the plastic covering on the box.

It was like buying a brand new 32gb factory unlocked iPhone for only 4,000PHP. It just made all the disappointments and tribulations of the past 2 months worth while. I’m a happy geek now, all that’s left is to study the iOS SDK and if my wallet can afford developing on the Apple platform.
