I just got my first tablet earlier at ComLink Shangri-La mall. A Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch 4×6 inch tablet for 5,900PHP (137USD). It’s a touch sensitive tablet with multi-touch support, and a pressure sensitive pen with eraser..
I’ve been wanting to get a tablet for several years now, but never got around to actually wanting to use one; until recently that is. Out of the blue I just felt tired of thinking about logic, programming, earning money and the like. I wanted a change of pace and suddenly had the urge to back to doing illustrations.
Most of my friends don’t know it but I used to draw a lot when I was a kid, my medium of choice was pastel crayons and charcoal. Growing up in Baguio with Perry and the rest of the Baguio Arts guild I was inspired to do my own art thing… though I never mustered the courage to take it up seriously. I was intimidated by the amount of talent around me… and perhaps the lack of emotional support as well.
Now that I have the time, money and interest to do it again on a new medium and without personal pressure, I feel excited. I’ll be starting from square 1 again and most probably won’t get proficient enough to create great work but atleast it’ll be fun.
