I used to hate getting the mail, mostly because the only thing of consequence I received were bills and more bills. As the world attempts to move toward a paperless society, receiving those bills in the mail is becoming a thing of the past. Who needs to open an envelope, read the bad news, write the check, seal the envelope, buy a stamp and walk to the post office when there are easier solutions readily available?
Many utility companies, banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions are now giving customers like me the opportunity to pay bills via the Internet. This gig is not bad, and I find myself wondering why it took me so long to jump on the online bill-paying cart. It’s so easy, I find myself having a harder time picking out a pair of shoes for the day than I do paying my bills online.
I had some concerns about online security and keeping track of these wireless bills as they were getting ready to process or go through. Many of those concerns have been alleviated by the people I pay bills to.
Before my car payment goes through, I receive an email notification from my lender. Before the car insurance payment goes through, I get word from the Internet, and before my cable bill hits my bank account, I know I will be hitting two days before it hits.
Problem solved! It’s assuring to know that I know when my bills are getting ready to go through, and it’s even better that I no longer have to go through the process of bill-paying the old-fashioned way. If you’re still paying bills via snail mail, it might be time to check into online bill paying so you’re trip to the mailbox is as satisfying as mine.
