People run all the time (most of them are unaware of it). Some run towards a goal while most run away from something. As for me I run both figuratively and literally. I run away from my past bad habits and sprint towards certain goals in life I want to achieve.
Running is to me one of the best analogies of life I can think of…
The people from all walks of life I see in races, the long mundane stretches of road, the challenging uphill sections, the short and fast downhill runs, and the sprint to the finish. All these best describes life. To me it is where I can test myself almost on a daily basis to see if I am indeed headed in the direction I want to tread; If I have the patience to go through the motions of life, the resolve take on challenges head on, the humility to enjoy the little things in life that come my way, and the discipline and perseverance to see my goals through.
Running puts me in a state of mind where I can escape from the pretenses of life and just be truly honest with myself. It is where I can break walls and limits to get a rush of endorphins and get a natural high like no other. It is one of the times when I can say that I am truly elated and stress free.
My run is just getting started. I have prepared myself properly and set my long and short term goals. Now all that is left is to continue running, faster and faster… and most importantly enjoy the run, the experience and the scenery I pass by.
