I watch a lot of jdrama’s (Japanese soap operas) as well as anime shows. And I can’t help but notice the obsession of Japanese women (or the characters they play on the show) with high fashion such as Louis Vuitton clothes, marc jacobs handbags, Shiseido cosmetics and what not. This behavior is also depicted in some plots where students subject them selves to prostitution just to afford these things.
I just can’t bring myself to understand this kind of behavior… I know that the Japanese are known to splurge, but boy can they be impractical!
