I got invited to the Adidas miCoach launch earlier this afternoon at the Bonifacio High Street. Adidas was introducing their interactive coaching device for runners; Similar to other devices such as Garmin, Polar and Nike which has a foot pod, heart rate monitor and a receiver that collects your running data. The difference with the Adidas miCoach is that it gives the runner coaching via prerecorded messages built into the device. Unlike its competition where you are left to analyze the data on your own, the device can analyze your data while you run and give you instructions to meet your running goals.
I joined the event since I was curious about the device details like, pricing, specs and what not. I was also hoping to take home an Adidas micoach so I can compare it with my Garmin Forerunner 50. So I joined their treadmill challenge, were you run the farthest distance you can run on a treadmill within 10 minutes. Unfortunately I only got 2nd place, with a distance of 2.71km, the first placer ran 2.89km… only the first place finisher got the Adidas miCoach, I got a Adidas miCoach watch… *pout*
I’m still hoping to win one via their raffle on the 29th of April. 100 lucky winners will get an Adidas miCoach, by simply buying any Adidas running apparel from participating shops and filling out a raffle coupon. If only I had the money I’d definitely get one for myself
