WDTV Live with D-Link DWA 140
Yz loves watching her shows especially Little Einsteins, So I decided to set up my own media center which we can use away from the computer. I got the WDTV Live by Western Digital for 6,300PHP (140USD). It’s one of the most affordable full featured media players around; It doesn’t have the other features of other NMT’s (Networked Media Tank) but it’s affordable and it does it’s primary function (which is play media files) very well. The interface looks good and is responsive, its design is simple and easy to understand; though there are some areas that can be improved on but it doesn’t take anything away from an already impressive interface.
I connected the WDTV Live to my 32″ Samsung LCD via HDMI cable and plugged in a USB Wi-Fi adapter to connect wireless to my NAS (Network Attached Storage) where it access all the media files. I used a D-Link DWA 140 Wireless N adapter which is supported by the WDTV Live. You can try other Wi-Fi adapters if you want, below is the list of currently supported adapters:

I’m pleased with the WDTV Live, it can use USB storage devices as well as connect to a wireless network via an adapter. It also played all my Anime, series and movies I have stored. For the price and performance, I think it was a really good buy!

can you stream over wifi without problems? There are some people that reported problems. Also which wifi router are you using?

No problems streaming, was able to stream 720P video without incident. I’m using a D-Link DIR-655 router.
