I’ll be leaving Omnis within the coming months and I’ll be transferring to a VPS host 2 friends and 1 got from Enotch. It costs 40USD (I pay 13.3USD) per month which we can pay monthly as oppose to paying it anually. The VPS has the following specs:
- CPU speed: equal share
- 3 IP addresses
- 1gb RAM
- 30gb HDD
- 3tb bandwidth per month
I don’t expect much as far as tech support goes, but for that specs at their asking price, I think it’s a good deal. As luck would have it, the specs are also divisible by 3, and there are 3 of us sharing.
We originally wanted dedicated web hosting but it was just to rich for our blood. Maybe if our pet projects on this VPS server pick up we may reconsider upgrading to a top tier dedicated web host. Personally I’m happy with a VPS, I’ll have my own ip for my sites and won’t have to share it with strangers, I also get to install stuff and customize the server to my liking. The only downside is I’ll be forced to learn VNC since we don’t have web based panels to administrate the server, we can have it installed but it’s just out of our budget at the moment.
