I wasn’t able to do my usual running regiment for the past 50 to 60 days since I got side tracked due to my hamstring injury followed by work deadlines, new freelance work and yes procrastination. I was feeling good earlier this morning and decided to go for a morning run. I tried running my usual 10km and ended just doing 7km, my pace wasn’t as it was when I was running regularly but what surprised me was that I was redlining already on my 4km. My usual heart rate when doing my runs ranges from 150-180bpm, this morning I was redlining at 185 to 193bpm. I didn’t get tired and my breathing was still at its usual pace but the cramps and side stitch settled in rather quickly.
Long story short; I procrastinated and lost atleast a month’s worth of running drills. Which I’ll have to work hard for again… Serves me right I guess.
