registering for the 2010 elections

After several trips to and from City Hall, i finally got myself registered. The COMELEC is computerizing the voting process, so both old and new registrants need to have biometrics taken; But it is still as cumbersome as the old method.

First you’ll have to go to the nearest COMELEC satellite office nearest you to get a registration form and have yourself scheduled for biometric inputs. WHEN you come back on your scheduled date and had your biometrics information entered into their system; You will be then given a small slip of paper with your name on it as a receipt of registration of sorts.

I asked the COMELEC staff: when will they be releasing the voter’s ID? and they said it will be released after the elections. Again, it’s just the same old inefficient system that the tax payers had to pay huge sums of money for.
