I get asked the perennial question: “where can I get the best website hosting service for my money?“. I get this a lot from my significant other and her blogger friends who have their legions of blogs scattered through out the web.
I always opt for top-tier web hosts mainly because of I reliability, but in most cases people have a limited budget to work with. I always make it a point to ask them “what kind of site are you building” and “how much traffic are you expecting” in order to asses the type of hosting they will need.
It pays to do your research before purchasing your web host. The often misconception about them now a days is that people only see the word “unlimited“. What they don’t understand is that space and bandwidth is very cheap now a days, that is why a lot of hosts can offer these unlimited (Bandwidth, Storage, Domains, etc) packages. What they don’t tell you is the processing limitation (web/SQL server, file system, etc) of their servers. This is basically how much data a server can process. If a particular server can’t cope with the processing demand this will ultimately lead to downtime which you do not want! Long story short: it will be pointless to have unlimited number of sites which do not load or take 48years to do so.
Another thing to bare in mind is: You get what you paid for.
