Urbanite race kits hangups

First they advertise that they can ship the race kits for a minimal cost, which they then retracted during the last minute. Then they said you can only get the kits from August 13-14, 3:30pm to 11:00pm and that you cannot get the kits on race day. Expecting more fuck ups, I decided to get my kit on the 14th Friday. Unfortunately I was tied up at work so I asked my girlfriend to get it for me.

When she got to the Bonifacio High Street to pickup the kit, she was asked to come back on Saturday morning because of several really lame excuses:

  1. There was a shortage in race kits since it was first come first served
  2. Their timing chips were held up at customs and needed to be scanned
  3. They were overwhelmed by the number of registrants
  4. I registered late…
  5. …and other shit I failed to comprehend

Firstly the registration deadline was set on August 11, I registered on the 8th which was well within the deadline that they set! Second, how the hell do you tell your paid customers that it’s first come first serve? We already paid for the kits in advance which means we should have a kit already. Third, it is not the customer’s/runner’s problem what hiccups the organizers experience, that is their job.

They say “Balik nalang kayo bukas” so casually… I don’t have the time nor money to go to The Fort on their beckon call. I live in Quezon City which is a 90 minute commute …yes I don’t have a car. Like most people I also have a job and other responsibilities to attend to.

This is only my second race, and my second time running in races that FinishLine.ph organized… and this will be definitely be the last time I’ll be running in their events. Never mind the steep registration fee, or the inflexible pickup point for the kits (they think all their participants can go to The Fort on a weekday), or constant changes in itinerary. They should’ve atleast have the courtesy to honor the appointments they set with thousands of registrants They were the one who have set the time and place and yet have the gull to stand us up and just apologize as if it were nothing!

After numerous demands for refunds and irate registrants, my girlfriend was able to get my kit minus the singlet… I could care less at this point really. I think Kenny Rogers Roasters made a mistake in choosing their race organizer. I think this will negatively affect their campaign, I know I was turned off already.
