I got my last wisdom tooth extracted last Saturday as planned. The procedure took about 80 minutes to complete and set me back 7,000PHP (roughly 150USD). The procedure entailed:
- Removing the bone envelopingĀ my molar
- Cutting the top part of my molar which was anchored to the molar beside it
- Cutting the gum to expose the tooth
- Extracting the tooth
- And finally cleaning everything up and stitching.
Despite the more than ample anesthesia used on me, I could still feel some discomfort and pain during the bone and tooth grinding. I lost quite a bit of blood as well since it took them some time to cut the tooth and extracting it. Overall it was OK, much more humane than I expected to be honest. Though the pain and swelling after-wards is a big hassle. I’ll be on a soft diet for about 3 days and my cheek will be swollen for roughly the same amount of time.
Fortunately this will be the last major thing that needs to be done on my teeth; the next procedures are just deep scaling prophylaxis (fancy term for cleaning) and a few small holes on my teeth that need to be patched up. Nothing too cumbersome for my taste, though it will still cost me a significant amount of money. But I figured better err on the side of caution and nip it in the bud before my teeth get worse again which will entail more discomfort and expenses.

Reading this post brings back the memory of my first wisdom tooth extraction which the idiot dentist did for two hours! She did not do any x-ray; and we thought she knew what she was doing…I had ripped lips after that!
Hope you are doing well now Mike.
yeah am ok now, the swelling has gone done and so has the pain. I think I can resume my workouts by tomorrow.
