amidst the recession

I was optimistic when the new year ushered in despite the looming global financial crisis, I was confident that if I did my best everything would work out one way or the other. Sadly I’m on the the brink of joing the growing ranks of the unemployed soon.

I just received word from my boss that I have lost one of my clients a few minutes ago; so that leaves me with 1 left. The state of my remaining client is bleak so I am expecting the worst. I was confident in the company that I work for, assuming that the owners were just asĀ  financially dependent on it as with their employees; and that they have the necessary skill-set to steer the company through these rough times. But as the saying goes “When you assume, you make an ASS of U and ME

Lately I’ve been having my doubts, and lost my faith in their foresight and capability in running their business. So I’ve started to take some precautionary measures in the event that I actually lose my job. I’ve just sent several applications via email a while ago, in the hopes of getting an interview and securing a new job.

My only concern is that I have very limited options. I have Retinitis Pigmentosa, and my vision has degraded significantly, to the point that I only have 1 usuable eye for reading and navigating, I have almost no night vision, and to top it all off I need to be at least 1-2 feet away from the monitor in order to work. So I have a strict set of working conditions I have to meet, which basically constitutes a home based job, and an office based job would probably be out of the question at the moment.

I do hope I can find an alternative, or better yet not lose my current job. Never the less I need to be prepared, so if any of you guys have any suggestions, or possible some part time jobs do let me know!
