I’m really happy with the deal I got, The Suggested Retail Price on Samsung’s site is 144,900PHP… Avant at Greenbelt Makati sells it a wopping 194,900PHP! I mean what the fuck man! I got mine from Abenson Appliance center for only 110,300PHP cost of delivery included. I’ll admit that I felt really good when I compared the prices; it really pays (literally) to do your research first.
Despite the series 7 LCD being my initial choice, I opted to purchase the series 5 first because it had a cheaper price tag at 84,00PHP. Unfortunately the unit they delivered to me was a bit defective, so I had Abenson replace the unit; dissatisfied with the Series 5′s performance I finally went to upgrading to the Series 7 instead of just replacing it with the same model.
With a difference of 26,000PHP, the difference in picture quality is really noticeable. Especially if you plan on using it as a computer monitor. The 7000:1 contrast ratio and 120Hz refresh rate really sets it apart. Though I must admit the difference in price just for minimal enhancements to the previous models is somewhat disappointing. In contrast with other brands though such as Sony with their Bravia product line, they also deploy similar tactics which leads me to think that it is really more of a marketing thing than anything else. Hence it all boils down to the needs and budget of the consumer to influence the choice in brand and model.
On a final note, despite being a Sony fan, I still opted to go for Samsung simply because they are more affordable (not cheaper) with similar features; picture quality is debatable since taste in color, brughtness, contrast, etc vary on a personal level.

Hi. May I know what branch of Abenson you got your 46″ series 7? You really got a good deal there…I also browsed around and found someone selling wholesale at sulit.com and he’s selling it at P120K. Thanks.
