I conducted an experiment on which running routine gives me the hardest workout. I started with my typical run which is basically a mix of gentle inline jogs then picking up the speed on the flats, the next is my speed run which is basically running at varying speeds as fast as I can push my self, the last was an incremental incline run where I I incrementally increase the incline level on the treadmill. All these data were taken in 30 minute running sessions:
Typical run: March 4, 2010
Speed run: March 8, 2010
Inclined run: March 9, 2010
The hardest run was the incremental incline run, it was only increments of 1-1.5-2 on the treadmill (I’m guessing in degrees). It doesn’t seem much but the communicative effects on my calves was very evident compared to my 2 runs. The most challenging was the speed run, I had a sustained heart rate of 190-194bpm in the last 5 minute sprint which was my red zone. The feeling was so intense it was almost euphoric, it was an adrenaline rush unlike nothing I’ve ever felt before. I was happy that I was able to go all out for 30 minutes in a sustained ascending speed, but I am also quite disappointed that I am still 500m-700m shy of my goal (7km in 3 minutes).
Replicating these results in the road will be a challenge, but I am optimistic. Despite my hard runs (for me anyway) I still have the energy to do my weight lifting routines right after the runs, then still have enough energy left to go back and work. It’s still a long road but I’ll eventually hit my goals with the right frame of my.
WDTV Live with D-Link DWA 140
Yz loves watching her shows especially Little Einsteins, So I decided to set up my own media center which we can use away from the computer. I got the WDTV Live by Western Digital for 6,300PHP (140USD). It’s one of the most affordable full featured media players around; It doesn’t have the other features of other NMT’s (Networked Media Tank) but it’s affordable and it does it’s primary function (which is play media files) very well. The interface looks good and is responsive, its design is simple and easy to understand; though there are some areas that can be improved on but it doesn’t take anything away from an already impressive interface.
I connected the WDTV Live to my 32″ Samsung LCD via HDMI cable and plugged in a USB Wi-Fi adapter to connect wireless to my NAS (Network Attached Storage) where it access all the media files. I used a D-Link DWA 140 Wireless N adapter which is supported by the WDTV Live. You can try other Wi-Fi adapters if you want, below is the list of currently supported adapters:
WDTV Live supported Wi-Fi adapters
I’m pleased with the WDTV Live, it can use USB storage devices as well as connect to a wireless network via an adapter. It also played all my Anime, series and movies I have stored. For the price and performance, I think it was a really good buy!
A lot of people like to dress up their cars. This is especially true for men. Some common modifications are mags, paint, and body kits, though I noticed that less attention is spent on the headlights of the car. I personally notice this part of the car first. You can tell a lot about a car just by looking at its headlights. It is also the first thing that people notice when they see your ride at night.
My personally preferenced are those halo headlights. These are those European looking headlights with the rim of the head lamp lit like a halo. These kinds of head lights are becoming popular now a days, since they’re readily available now. Unlike before when these kinds of headlamps can only be seen on high super cars like the Lamborghini Gallardo (one of my all time favorite cars).
A stock factory car can look totally different by simply changing the headlights on it. I see it as more of a practical as well as an aesthetic modification, since these kinds of head lamp project more focused light. Thanks to their halogen bulbs which is light years better than the conventional headlight bulbs being commercially installed in cars.
First off, I wanna thank all the guys who commented on my post/entry for the contest; I really appreciated it. Thanks to you guys I was able to save 500PHP!
SuperBods Run 2010 racekit
Moving on, I just got my race kit, it’s basically just my bib number, a singlet, route map and the timing chip. I’m not really all for the singlet design but it’s comfortable and I got just the right size. I’ll be running in the 10k event, I wonder how I’ll be performing come race day… I’m not as confident as in my previous races were I used to train in a subdivision. This time around I’m just running on a treadmill.
But yeah! I’m excited to see how far I’ve come on a treadmill, also it’s been roughly 5 months since my last races. I gotta shake off that race rust (if there’s such a thing) and join as many races as I can this year… and maybe run in the 21k events.
30 min. run data before the superbods race
My last run for the week before the race shows some promise, I think I am as fit as I can possibly get for the race. Cardio is good and no pain while running. So here we go! hope to see you there!
Amidst the financial recession last year, the US economy is steadily getting back to its feet. In the efforts to gain back the purchasing public’s trust in the real-estate business; the US government is giving out Home Buying Tax Credit of up to 8,000USD to would-be home buyers. This is good news for OFW’s who plan on settling down; real-estate sales will also generate jobs for people who lost their job in the recent recession. Which in turn generates revenue for both the government and working public and will ultimately help the world wide community get back on track.
For those of you guys interested (and eligible), the US Government has extended the Tax Credit offer up June 30,2010; there will be no more further extensions according to their site. Your papers must be filed on or before the said date in order to qualify. There is still ample time to contemplate over the offer. Needless to say a 8,000USD tax credit is indeed a big deal, if you add that to the reasonable prices of real-estate today you may end up saving a huge amount of money… Which may a lot to paying off your mortgage , rennovation or for furnishing your house/property.
I like my things to be well kept and taken care off, that is why when my girlfriend and I went shopping for bathroom vanities and fixtures, we ended up canvasing over our budget. She wanted to get the cheap sets while I was on the other end looking at the more expensive ones. I tend to lean more towards quality over the price tag when it comes to things I use often. May it be kitchenware, pillows or whatever… the same applies to my bathroom fixtures. In the end we weren’t able to buy the fixtures I wanted because it wasn’t in my budget, so I’ll be saving a bit more in order to purchase them in the near future.
